Hello CSC Vancouver Island,
I hope this message finds you well and getting back into the swing of things as
summer turns to fall.
At the start of summer it was the Chapter Executive's plan that this message
would be a "COVID is
Mostly Under Control and We're Back!" notice announcing the
first of our Fall 2021 lunch seminars. Unfortunately, the fourth wave of
COVID has given us pause, and we're placing a slight hold on our plans.
However, we have tentatively lined up presentations this fall, as well as a
casual social get together sometime in late-November or early-December.
For our presentations:
- Stanis Smith from
the Rick Hansen Foundation will be speaking to us about new accessibility
standards (it's not just about mobility)
- Maria Rudman of
Schluter has a wide range of continuing education topics that she can
select from and present on
- Our social
gathering is envisioned as a pub night, perhaps with festive hats and
maybe if we're lucky, without festive masks.
I know the past 18 months have been trying for almost everyone - how could we all have been so isolated yet so unexpectedly busy? I also want
to thank all of our members for their quiet support of CSC. Despite all
of the busy-ness and extraneous pressures of COVID, I know that several of you
have continued to be involved with CSC committees reviewing updates to
educational content, CCDC document updates, etc. Your efforts to support
the association and industry have been very much appreciated.
Also, we wish we could have done this in person at a lunch meeting, but a
special thanks to our new members over the past year:
- Abdulrauf - BC Public
Service
- Simone - J. Watson
Roofing Consulting Inc.
- Nicole P - nsquared
architecture ltd
- Nicole S - nsquared
architecture ltd
- John - Kang &
Gill Construction Ltd.
We owe you a welcome coffee or lunch chat and with the imminent
implementation of the BC Vaccine Card program, we are looking forward to
finally meeting you in person.
Thanks again to all of you and I look forward to seeing you and learning
together in the near future.
I am CSC,
Terry Bergen - Chapter Chair
